Germania, tra il 2019 ed il 2023 registrati 2.284 episodi di antisemitismo legati alla destra estrema

From 2019 to 2023, RIAS recorded 2,284 antisemitic incidents linked to right-wing extremism

From 2019 to 2023, the Rias network recorded 2,284 antisemitic incidents associated with right-wing extremism, making it the most frequently identified political spectrum for such incidents.

Right-wing extremist antisemitism is notably violent, with six incidents of extreme right-wing violence and 34 attacks documented during the same period. Jewish institutions are particularly targeted, as seen in the 2019 Halle synagogue attack. Antisemitic violence is often glorified within the right-wing extremist movement.

Rias Managing Director Benjamin Steinitz emphasised that right-wing terrorist antisemitism represents a major threat to both Jewish communities and democracy in Germany.

The analysis primarily covers the period before Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, after which many incidents of antisemitism have been attributed to pro-Palestinian activists. However, Rias notes that since October 7, Jews have faced hostility and violence from various political groups, including right-wing extremists.

In Dortmund, a banner reading “The State of Israel is our misfortune” was displayed at a right-wing extremist meeting point, while in Hanover, Nazi memorials were found with anti-Semitic stickers.

Rias observes that right-wing extremist, conspiracy-driven, and anti-Israel content is increasingly normalised in meetings and online spaces. This contributes to the growing acceptance of right-wing extremist antisemitic narratives. The organisation highlights the rise of “remembrance defence” and Holocaust relativisation, particularly among AfD politicians.

Rias serves as a resource for those who experience or witness antisemitism, collecting, verifying, and consolidating reports of such incidents.
